Miami Center For Craniomandibular Disorders

Initial Wear (First 3 Months):

  • Wear your Invisalign retainers full-time, day and night, except when eating, brushing, or flossing.
  •  Remove your retainers only when necessary, and always handle them with clean hands to avoid transferring bacteria.

Cleaning:

  • Clean your retainers daily using a soft toothbrush, dish soap and lukewarm water. Avoid using hot water as it may damage the retainers.
  • Alternatively, you can use a denture cleaning tablet once daily to remove residue and odor.
  • Avoid using toothpaste or harsh chemicals, as they can scratch or degrade the material.

Storage:

  • When not wearing your retainers, store them in their provided case to protect them from damage or loss.
  • Keep the case away from pets or small children who may mistake the retainers for toys.

Avoiding Damage:

  • Do not expose your retainers to excessive heat or direct sunlight, as it can distort their shape.
  • Keep your retainers away from any source of heat, such as hot water, hairdryers, or car dashboards.

 Transition to Night-Time Wear:

  • After the initial three months, we may recommend transitioning to wearing your retainers only at night.
  • Follow our instructions carefully to maintain the alignment of your teeth.

 Monitoring:

  • Regularly monitor the fit and condition of your retainers. If you notice any cracks, chips, or changes in fit, contact our office immediately.

Replacement:

  • Follow the recommended replacement schedule provided by our office to ensure your retainers continue to provide effective retention.
  • Call us to replace your retainers if they become damaged, worn, or no longer fit properly.

By following these instructions diligently, you can ensure the effectiveness and longevity of your Invisalign  retainers, helping to preserve your newly aligned smile for years to come.
